Ruben Cuellar was born on July 29, 1963 in Los Angeles, California. He was the third born child to Gloria and Ruben Cuellar Sr., both of whom he is reunited with in heaven. He is survived by his wife, Suzie, his children, Jonathan and Andie, and his three siblings, Cynthia, Maria, and Anthony. He bravely battled pancreatic cancer after his diagnosis in late 2023, but succumbed to his illness on February 10, 2025 with Suzie by his side.

He was a graduate of St. Francis High School, where he was so proud of his achievements in sports. He was a gifted athlete, able to excel in any team he played on, including baseball, football, volleyball, and most especially basketball. His jersey number, 31, was his lucky number for life. He had talent that extended even beyond team sports. His competitive streak stretched to ping pong, bowling, and more. Ruben always wanted to win and loved beating his family, especially his nieces and nephews!

After high school he attended some years at Glendale Community College. After, he attended LA Trade Tech to learn to be an electrician, following in his father's trade. Through the years, he worked for several different companies, and settled in working for TTSI Network Communications for the last fifteen years of his life. His strong work ethic was admirable, and he was driven to provide for his family. Ruben believed in the idea of "work hard, play hard."

He started dating Suzie in 1987, and they were married on August 24, 1991, the day of his father's birthday. Their relationship was filled with love and laughter. They had two children, Jonathan and Andie. The Cuellar four had so many wonderful adventures together, because Ruben had a way of making every moment special. His true pride and joy were his wife and children. There was nothing he wouldn't do for them.

He loved going on trips. He went on camping trips often with Suzie, and after his kids were born, Ruben always looked forward to family vacations. Big Bear and Laughlin were among his favorite locations. The times he was able to go on trips with all of his siblings and their children were cherished by him. His presence on these vacations guaranteed a fun time for all.

Ruben will be remembered for his sense of humor. He commanded the room wherever he went, with his big personality and his love for being the center of attention. His quick wit and silly antics kept every moment filled with laughter. He will be dearly missed by so many. Ruben Cuellar was definitely one of a kind.
